Define the service scope
Check the origin and destination as well as the included stages: collection, main carriage, handling, any storage and final delivery. A comparison is only useful when the services address the same requirement.
Read the assumptions
Record the volumes, weights, dimensions and dates on which the proposal is based. Ask for estimated transit times to be distinguished from expressly agreed commitments, and clarify how long the offer remains valid.
Clarify additional items
Clarify exclusions and circumstances that may change the service: waiting time, rescheduled appointments, special access or a change in volume. The aim is to understand the scope before choosing an option.
Define decision criteria
Rank your priorities: cost, transit time, frequency, ease of coordination and receiving requirements. Use the same criteria for every proposal and record any points still to be confirmed.
